Grandfather Clock. Part Two.
The Base of the Clock. This is a nice easy part to do. Open the ufo01 you saved with the edge pieces, drag one each of the short and long ones onto the image with the part you just completed on it. Resize the short horizontal piece so it is just a bit wider than the clock. Drag this part onto a new image 300x 300, then close your ufo01.
Duplicate this piece three times. Make one of the duplicates a bit wider, then duplicate that piece. Now draw a rectangle, same wood preset, size the same width as your clock case. Keep selected and change to 2D mode, this will add perspective by making it look darker. Select the longer side edge you have open, and resize this so the length is the same as your base rectangle, duplicate and place one on each side of the larger rectangle. Add a shadow, left side use box one on default settings, right side use box 2 on default settings. Place the horizontal pieces as shown in the image to the side.
Nearly finished with this part, all we need to do is decorate it. Before doing that, duplicate all of this and save as ufo02 for use on the top clock case. To decorate it I used the path outline tool shape border 4, same wood, and drew a shape 3D with a border of 4 and depth reduced to 15. Place it over the base part and resize to fit. Add an all round shadow with default settings. Now merge all as single object before we add the finishing touch. You can use a dingbat or do as I did and choose a shape, transform it to fit, give it an all round shadow, select all objects, merge as single and that is your base complete. Save either as ufo or add to the easy palette.
