Welcome to Kilmartin Glen Page Three.
Some of the Standing Stones in Kilmartin Glen.
Kilmartin Glen has many Standing Stones, some you can see from the roadsides, others you have to know where to look.
This page will definitely be added to as, just beyond this group of stones, in the woods, are the remains of two stone circles, which are still easily recognised as circles.
However despite being up in Kilmartin a few times I didn't know they were there so soon we will be going back to find them and no doubt a few others too.
The stones you see on this page are part of a complex setting of stones in an area known as Nether Largie.
The picture below shows part of the group of stones, 2 pairs of large stones about 60 metres apart and a further two groups of 5 and 4 stones between them.
The distance is not very obvious in this picture but what you are seeing is the large central stone of the group of five, plus the 2 large stones to the North.
All of the large stones are around the same height of 2.8m, or if you prefer just over 9 feet.
